Drone documentation of industrial facilities: height without scaffolding, a look without a lift.
A chimney, a tank, an air intake on the roof, a mast. All of it has to be looked over periodically, and every trip up costs: equipment, procedure, time and risk. Material from the air lets you see first and only then decide where and why someone has to go up there.
Scope
What exactly we document.
Chimneys and tall structures
The surface, joints, capping rings, ladders, platforms, fittings and visible losses, viewed from a safe distance instead of from a rope or a lift.
Façades and cladding
Sandwich panels, fixings, flashings, soiling, corrosion and mechanical damage over the full height, including the side that cannot be reached from the ground.
HVAC and rooftop equipment
Units, air intakes, exhausts, fans, service penetrations and their surroundings - often the most neglected part of a building.
Tanks and process installations
Tank roofs, shells, pipe racks, above-ground pipelines and their condition as seen from above, without entering the zone.
Masts and lattice structures
Telecommunications masts, towers and lattice structures: fittings, fixings, the state of the coatings, whether the elements visible from the air are complete.
Yards, roads and surroundings
Surfaces, drainage, use of the site, storage areas and internal roads. Useful when planning refurbishments and the arrival of heavy equipment.
What the maintenance team gets
Not a folder of photographs. A list with priorities.
In the package
- an index of observations with locations on the building, not loose files
- a priority for further verification: what to look at first and what can wait
- a mission log and a record of the conditions on the day
- reference material for comparison at the next flight
- a note on which observations require the appropriate certified expert
Out of scope
- structural, chimney and fire safety expert opinions
- inspection of the electrical installation and contact measurements
- non-destructive testing: ultrasound, coating thickness, tightness
- diagnosis of the cause of damage and an estimate for the repair
- thermography of equipment and process installations
Conditions at the plant
Agreed before the date, not at the gate.
- NDA, safety induction and entry rules settled before the visit
- an agreed take-off area, flight corridor and procedure for aborting the mission
- no flying over people at work; where necessary we change the geometry or the date
- restrictions on recording images wherever the confidentiality of the process requires it
- coordination with plant traffic if the mission touches internal roads
- the flight is postponed in rain or in wind beyond the safety limit
Formal requirements enter the quote before the flight. If access turns out to be impossible, we say so at the feasibility review stage, not after arriving on site.
Questions
Four questions from maintenance.
Does production have to be stopped for the flight?
Usually not. Most of the scope we deliver from the air, without interfering with the plant’s operations. What has to be agreed is rather the take-off area, the flight corridor and the places that must not be overflown because people are present. Exceptions we settle before the date.
Will I get an expert opinion on the condition of the chimney?
No. You will get documented, ordered visual material with the location of the observations and a priority for further verification. A chimney, structural or fire safety expert opinion is issued by a certified expert - our material is their input, so they know where to look and whether they need to go up at all.
How is the confidentiality of the process handled?
We sign the NDA before the visit, not after. Restrictions on recording images in selected zones we agree at the mission planning stage and write into the record of conditions. The material has a defined retention period and access to it is restricted - the rules are described in the terms of service.
Will you take thermal images of installations or equipment?
Today we carry out thermal imaging only for photovoltaics, and only once the method gate has been passed. Thermography of equipment and process installations is a separate field with its own standards and qualifications; we do not offer it as a product.
The starting point: from 2,200 PLN net (working floor), quoted by scope. A portfolio of buildings and a cyclical survey are quoted separately, because the cost of the mission is then spread across several addresses. Travel according to the table in the price list.
